A Welcome Message From Rabbi Liss
Dear Friends,
I want to personally extend an invitation to you to become part of our Temple Family.
Synagogue life can be very rewarding and enriching. Judaism has a lot to offer us in our daily
lives. Here at North Country Reform Temple - Ner Tamid, one of my goals is to help make
Judaism a living part of everyone's daily life. I hope that you will take full advantage of your
membership and become an active participant in both our Temple family and in Jewish Life. I
invite you to go on a journey with me to explore Judaism. Our Synagogue serves as a House of
Prayer, a House of Study and a House of Assembly. No matter what stage of life you are at, we
have something to offer you.
If you have children, I invite you to become active in their Jewish education. We offer programs
for tots through 12th graders. There are many opportunities for family education through our
Hebrew School program which will give you the opportunity to learn and experience Judaism
through an exciting hands-on approach.
Our Services are unique, warm and inviting. We hope you will come and enjoy the uplifting
prayer, the music and time for reflection. Our guitar, piano and organ serve to help enhance our
overall worship experience.
My personal passion is social action and social justice. Over the years our congregation has
collected 1000’s of coats, 1000’s of pounds of food and clothes for the poor in our community.
We have sent Halloween costumes to Israel for Purim, black dolls to Ethiopian children in Israel
and water for victims in Kosovo. Our Mitzvah team takes on a project a month for example
helping individuals who are sick, needy, in need of services or rides in our community. They
have sponsored fundraisers for Cancer organizations. We recognize that one Mitzvah cane
change the world. We actively engage in doing Mitzvot through congregational life.
Our Congregation offers many ways for you to become involved. Because of our size and
warmth, we welcome your participation on every level. I look forward to getting to know you
and hope that our home will soon become your home.
Shalom,
Shalom,
Rabbi Dr. Janet B. Liss

Cantor Rebecca Goren
Cantor Rebecca Goren recently joined the clergy team at North Country Reform Temple in July. Cantor Goren was invested as a Cantor this past May through Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion School of Sacred Music. Prior to her investiture, Cantor Goren served as student cantor at Temple Beth Miriam, in Elberon, NJ for 2 years as well as at Temple Adas Israel, in Sag Harbor, NY for two years. Cantor Goren is thrilled to be on board as both Cantor and Educator and to share with the congregation her enthusiasm for Jewish education, Jewish music, and communal worship.
Message from the Cantor/Educator
Dear Friend,
I personally welcome you to consider our warm, inviting and extremely vibrant congregation. Here
at North Country Reform Temple-Ner Tamid, we are a diverse as well as a close-knit family. Addi-
tionally, our congregation has a lot to offer to its members on many levels. For example, our Hebrew
School is an exciting place! Our students learn from master teachers whose dedication is clear in
their preparation, their teaching and in their care for each student.
Furthermore, through our Mishpacha Program our school offers many innovative programs that
bring students, their parents, and even grandparents together in the classroom. For example, last
year our 4th grade class made ceramic Kiddush cups under the tutelage of one of our staff members
who is a talented art teacher. Parents and grandparents joined in the fun. The project included a les-
son on the holiness of Shabbat.
Our 6th and 7th Grade students have the opportunity to join in our biannual Tallit Workshop, during
which the students are able to make their own personalized Tallit with the participation of their par-
ents. This extremely popular program offers an opportunity for parents to work with their children
on a very special project during the months leading up to the student’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah day.
These are only a few of the many programs that we continue to offer. NCRT-Ner Tamid’s Hebrew
School takes great pride in hosting diverse programs that foster a love of Jewish education in our
students!
We have a wonderful children’s choir. Our children practice weekly on Sundays and they will be par-
ticipating in Shabbat Services as well as at least 2 concerts this year. They also will be traveling to
Nursing Homes on Mitzvah Day in May, in order to bring joy to the residents.
Our adult choir is made up of an extremely talented and dedicated group of volunteers. The choir
sings during the High Holy Days and Shabbat Services during the year. The choir plays a large role in
the worship experience, adding beauty and majesty. We are always happy to accept new members.
The music at Shabbat services is planned carefully in order to consider the diverse group of congre-
gants who come to join in prayer. The melodies of the prayers are varied in style. They include a large
majority of congregational melodies which naturally invite participation. We strive to create a warm
and welcoming Shabbat atmosphere where the music adds immeasurably to the whole experience.
Please join us for a Shabbat service and join in our Shabbat melodies. Perhaps you’ll go home humming
a new melody or your heart will be warmed by an old favorite Shabbat tune. Come find out
more about our wonderful Hebrew School and children’s choir or consider joining the adult choir.
I look forward to speaking with you personally. If you have any questions regarding the Hebrew
School or either of our choirs, please feel free to set up an appointment with me. I would love to
meet with you!
B’shalom,
Cantor Rebecca Goren
